Television Coupons
Is anyone else having trouble with these HDTV converters that are being bought with these coupons.?
I bought one of these converters with one of the coupons the government is offering us, I have also installed about 20 different ones for elderly people I know, and I have found something out about them. the one I have at times won’t get a signal, or the voice breaks up, or the picture just goes away for 5, 10 minutes at a time, and all the other people I installed them for are having similar trouble. I thought I may have hooked it up wrong so I had a Television guy come in, and he told me it was OK, and he couldn’t explain why I was having trouble. Are other Americans having the same problems, is this another American Government scam on it’s people to force them to go out and buy new Televisions, I mean I wouldn’t put it past them.
Golfer is correct, on all points except one. You can’t make the blanket statement that the digital signals are not as strong as the old analog ones. Output power is measured differently in both systems so the “power” numbers don’t correlate. You can’t compare them on that basis. However, the COVERAGE of a FULL POWER digital station will be comparable to it’s analog counterpart.
The bottom line is, if you are getting break up and outages, you need a better antenna or to correctly aim the existing one. See http://www.antennaweb.org and enter your ZIP code for information on choosing the proper antenna and where to aim it.
