Sale Coupons
What do sales, coupons and rebates have in common?
For the following promotion methods, sales, coupons and rebates what is in common among them? What common purpose do they serve other than being “marketing gimmicks”?
They all offer a discount off the listed price–for varying degrees of buyer participation. For a sale, anyone present gets the discount. For a coupon, anyone who brings the piece of paper gets the discount. For a rebate, usually you have to mail in a piece of paper (and your receipt)–occasionally the store will do it for you. But with a rebate you pay the full price and get the discount mailed to you later. Some stores will deduct it from the purchase price (and then the store gets the rebate).
