Was it fair what fast food worker did today?

I went to McDonald’s drive thru today and ordered a Mcflurry and had a coupon to get one free. When I got to the window to pay the guy he threw the coupon in the trash and when I saw my receipt I knew he charged for both. When I told him about it he wanted to give me the coupon back and told me I can use it next time. I wasn’t satisfied and he told me to ask the manager at the next window for my refund. I got my refund in cash from the manager. Since I may never order a Mcflurry again and wanted to try it I don’t feel it was fair for him to try to get me to save the coupon for my next visit. Was it fair to me the way this restaurant employer tried to make me pay full price today for 2 Mcflurrys when I had a coupon?

You got your money back, thts what matters here. Some employees are really fed up with their jobs and take it out on the customer. Most are just fine though.
