Coupons Sent To Your House

Is it wrong to use a fake name when having something sent to your house?

Can you get in trouble for using a fake name when having stuff sent to your house from online, like coupons or samples etc? I did it once when i was in high school, just to see how much junk mail would come along with the sample, and im still getting junk mail every once in awhile addressed to Jo Anne Smith. lol

By law you are allowed to use any name you wish so long as it is not used for the purposes of defrauding someone. If you just want to get junk mail in another name, then it would be legal. If, however, you are trying to avoid paying for something, or trying to get around restrictions of “Limit of one offer per person”, then it would be illegal.

Note to Homeless in Phoenix: It is only unlawful to intercept, delay, or tamper with another person’s mail. Receiving mail under a pseudonym does not make it someone else’s mail. It would still be your mail.
