Looking for a package from Ohio to Illinios including car rental and hotel.?

I’m traveling with a friend (or two) to Chicago in July. We are looking for the best deal so that we can have our hotel and rental car in a package without outrageous prices. Is there a discount or package from places that help you with both the rental car and hotel stay? We’ve been to Orbitz, Expedia, ect. and we know they have the packages but is there any promotions or advantages to certain days/people/months/ect.

For example: Stay 3+ nights receive 30% off

Or other promotions that you really have to research to see? Is there a best time to go for less money?

We’re not cheapskates but right now, with everything included we’re looking at about 1000 total and this is supposed to be a going-off-to-college vacation where we get together one last time.

Are there coupons or codes that can give X amount of percent or something?
